Acne Moisturizing Creme Ingredients

Active Ingredient:

Benzoyl peroxide 2.4%

Other Ingredients: Calendula Extract, Goldenseal Extract, Aloe Vera Extract, Lemon Peel Extract, Chamomile Extract, Lavender Extract, Green Tea Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Water, Carbomer, Glycerin, Disodium Edta, Cetyl Alcohol, Tricaprylin, Glyceryl Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Triethanolamine, Dimethicone, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Germall II, Citric Acid, Fragrance

vBenzoyl Peroxide (Topical)
Benzoyl peroxide is an antiseptic. It reduces the number of surface skin bacteria, but does not cause bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
It also reduces the number of yeasts on the surface of the skin.
Benzoyl peroxide is also an oxidizing agent and it drains comedones (mild acne) on the skin surface and acts as an anti-inflammatory.

vCalendula Extract
The flavonoids, found in high amounts in calendula, account for much of its anti-inflammatory activity; triterpene saponins may also be important. Calendula also contains carotenoids. Investigations into anticancer and antiviral actions of calendula are continuing. At this time, there is insufficient evidence to recommend clinical use of calendula for cancer. There is evidence suggesting use of calendula for some viral infections. The constituents responsible for these actions are not entirely clear.

vGoldenseal Extract (Hydrastis canadensis) Goldenseal is used as a treatment for irritations and inflammation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory, digestive, and urinary tracts. Goldenseal is commonly used topically for skin and eye infections and has been used historically as a mouthwash to help heal canker sores.

vAloe Vera Extract
Aloe vera has a long history as a safe, effective medicine and skin care aid. For over 6,000 years, people have benefited from the remarkable relief that the plant can bring to a wide range of ailments. The ancient Egyptians used Aloe to heal battle wounds and cure infections. Writings of the early Greeks show how they valued it for relieving blisters, burns and leg ulcers as well as bowel and stomach disorders.

vLemon Peal Extract
New studies on a monoterpene found in Lemon Peel called "limonene"
show that it very effectively prevents individuals from developing abnormal growths on their skin. Limonene also has demonstrated prevention efficacy in preclinical models of breast and colon abnormal growths. But the most promising use of Lemon Peel is indicated in recent research, which shows that this herb may help reduce the occurrence of squamous cell skin cancers. Further study is still required to support this research.

vChamomile Extract
Chamomile flower CO2-extract from German chamomile. This product is best suitable for treating inflammation and irritation of skin and mucous membranes. Clinical efficacy is comparable to hydrocortisone.

vLavender Extract
An antiseptic and anti-inflammatory that is effective in treating acne, dermatitis and oily skin.

vGreen Tea Extract
Green Tea extract works on the cellular level of the skin to reduce inflammation and toxicity. Both black and green tea extracts worked well, although green tea proved more effective, at least in some patients.

vHyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid has been nicknamed by the press as the "key to the fountain of youth" because it has been noted that at least some people who ingest a lot of it in their diets tend to live to ripe old ages.
ABC News had a show on a village in Japan and hyaluronic acid entitled, "The Village of Long Life: Could Hyaluronic Acid Be an Anti-Aging Remedy?".

vTocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)
Also know as Vitamin E. Vitamin E is a major antioxidant and the primary defense against lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E is particularly important in protecting the body's cells from free radical and oxidative damage.

vPanthenol (Vitamin B5)
More familiar as Vitamin B5. In a living cell, panthenol is converted to pantothenic acid, which then becomes an important part of the compound "Coenzyme A", which is important in cellular metabolism.

vCarbomer
Classified as a synthetic polymer and used as an emulsion stabilizer as well as an aqueous viscosity-increasing agent.

vGlycerin
Glycerin is a sweet tasting, colorless, liquid that attracts moisture to your skin.

vDisodium Edta
Commonly referred to as EDTA is a stabilizer in cosmetic products that is a chelating compound. The function of a chelating compound is to prevent ingredients from binding to any trace elements that may be present.

vCetyl Alcohol
Yellowish white flakes with no odor or toxicity, it is used as an emollient and emulsifier.

vTricaprylin
Occlusive skin-conditioning agent

vPotassium sorbate
Potassium sorbate is a mild preservative. Its primary use is as a food preservative.

vSodium Benzoate
As a food additive it is used as a preservative, effectively killing most yeasts, bacteria, and fungi.

vGermall II is a white, free-flowing hygroscopic powder, provides a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity

vCitric acid is a weak organic acid found in citrus fruits used as a natural preservative
